Why We Chose to Go Beyond PPWR Compliance Requirements

Published by Dekoron

When supplying packaging, meeting legal requirements is essential. But for us, compliance isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about reducing risk for our customers before products reach their market.

Recently, one of our customers only required compliance with the four heavy metals covered under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

That would have met the immediate requirement.

We decided to go further.

During our compliance preparation, we already had compliance documentation from our material suppliers. However, we believe that documentation alone isn’t enough for a finished packaging product.

That’s why we’re investing in additional testing on our finished paper bags beyond the PPWR heavy metal requirements.

By checking the finished product itself and carrying out additional verification where appropriate, we gain greater confidence in what is ultimately delivered to our customers.

Compliance isn’t only about having paperwork.

If a packaging product is found not to meet regulatory requirements after reaching the market, it can create unnecessary costs, delays and concerns for the businesses that sell it.

We’d rather help reduce those risks before shipment, so our customers can focus on growing their business with greater confidence.

This additional testing wasn’t part of our original budget.

We chose to invest in it because we believe long-term partnerships are built on confidence, not only on price.

For us, understanding the finished product matters just as much as understanding the materials that go into it.

At Dekoron, we don’t see compliance as a one-time task.

As packaging regulations continue to evolve, we’ll continue improving our documentation, verifying our finished products and looking for ways to give our customers greater peace of mind.

Because lasting partnerships are built on trust, transparency and responsibility—not simply on selling products.
